The Convair B-58 Supersonic Bomber is my entry. I was part of the design team in 55 now I hope to model it by 05. Stand-off scale about 1/24.
1. Build Specs:
36" Wing - Balsa
48" Fuselage - Fiberglass
2. Powered by 4 micro fans, Razor -2500, Battery TBD
3. Flight Controls:
Elevons
Fan thrust differential if required
4. Smart dolly for take-off.
5. Drawings by drafting arm, airfoils by Profili, Fuse by lost foam, cross sections by Revell
I think I have the wing worked out, it is version 3. I plan to use carbon fiber rods to provide the structure in the wing to support the "turbines" (nacelles/motors). I will also use the rods as a wing jig because the wing must be built upside down to accomodate the pylons supporting the "turbines."
When I worked on the 58 I remember the government being upset that the Revell plastic model was so accurate. So I purchased the model and will cut it in sections, enlarge them on my scanner and use them for guides while I sand styrofoam to shape.
